The objective of this work was to develop an algorithm to optimize energy production costs for an offshore wind farm. To achieve this, a study was conducted on the components and technical aspects of a wind turbine, along with the definition of a fictitious plant based on real reliability data. A RAM analysis was performed using a custom computational routine developed specifically for application in offshore wind farms, later enhanced to also optimize the plant’s maintenance strategy. The RAM analysis was conducted through Monte Carlo simulations, which identified the variables for problem optimization. The optimization was carried out using the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) method, adapted for continuous variables.
